Alachua County }
This Indenture made this first day of
February AD 1869 by George L. Barnes Sheriff of said County
of the first part and Intious Griffin of said County
and State of the Second part, Whereas by virtue of sundry
writs of Fieri Facias issued out of the Circuit Court
of Alachua County and to the Said Sheriff delivered he
was Commanded that of the Goods and Chattles, Lands
and tenements of John G. Rawls deceased he cause to
be made the Sum of Four Thousand Eight Hundred &
five 98/100 Dollars with interest thereon, and Costs of suit
which Simeon Dell lately recovered in the Circuit Court
of said County against the said John G. Rawls deceased
as well as sundry other amounts in Sundry other
Executions in the Office of said Sheriff, And whereas
the said Sheriff by virtue of said writs did on the twelfth
day of December AD 1868 levy upon and Seize the
property hereinafter described and did by virtue of
Said writs, and pursuant to the Statutes in such
Cases made and provided duly advertise the said
property for Sale on the first day of February AD 1869
the day and date of these presents, and did on this
day Sell the same at public auction according to
law, to said Ignatious Griffin for the sum of Six
hundred and Eleven Dollars ($611.00) being the highest
Sum bid for the same, now therefore Know ye that I
the said George L. Barnes as said Sheriff by virtue
of the said writs, and of the Statutes in such case
made and provided for and in Consideration of said sum
of Six hundred & Eleven Dollars, to me paid by the
party of the Second part, have granted bargained and
Sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and Sell
unto the said party of the Second part his heirs and
assigns forever, all the following property Viz the North
East quarter and the East half of North West quarter of
Section Five (5) Township ten (10) Range Eighteen (18) E
The north West quarter of Section Four (4) Township Ten
(10) Range Eighteen (18) E in all containing Four hundred
acres more or less, together with all the right title, Interest
and appurtenances which the said John G. Rawls
deceased had in the said property jointly & Severally
and the same to hold as fully as I the said Sheriff as
aforesaid under said writs might Could or ought to Sell
the same - Given under my hand and Seal this first
day of February AD 1869
