Sheriffs Deed
State of Florida
Alachua County This indenture made the 6th
day of March A.D. 1870 between
George L. Barnes Sheriff of said County of the
first part and John L. Villalonga of Savannah
of the County of Chatham state of Georgia Second
part Witnesseth, That whereas by virtue of
a writ of Fieri Facias issued out of the
Circuit Court for said County and to him
the said sheriff directed he was Commanded
that of the goods and chattles Lands and
tenements of Penelopy L. Stanley & Joseph M. Arnow
be caused to be made the sum of One Thousand
Nine hundred Eighty Two 60/100 Dollars with
interest therein together with cost of suit
which E.S. Jaffrey and Co. lately on the 27th
day of June AD 1867 recovered in our
Circuit Court against P.L. Stanley and
Joseph M. Arnow and whereas I George L. Barnes
as sheriff aforesaid by virtue of said writ
did on the 4th day of February AD 1870 levy
upon and seize the property hereafter
described and did by virtue of said
writs and pursuant to the Statute in such
case made and provided duly advertised
the said property for sale on the 7th day
of March AD 1870 and did on that day
sell the same at public auction
according to law to John L. Villalonga
for the sum of Two Thousand Dollars
being the highest sum bid for the same
Now Therefore Know Ye; That I the said George
L. Barnes as aforesaid by virtue of the
said writ and of the Statutes in such
Cases made and provided for and in
Consideration of said sum of Two Thousand Dollars
to me in hand paid by the said John L.
Villalonga party of the second part have
granted bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant bargain and sell unto the
said John L. Villalonga party of the second
Part his heirs and assigns forever all
the following property
The North half of South East Quarter and the south
East Quarter of South East Quarter of section Twelve
(12) of North half & south East of section Twenty four (24)
of lot no one (1) Section Twenty five (25) Township Eight
of Range Eighteen 918) and south half & south west quarter |
