ally came Andrew Jackson who being duly sworn says
that he with Martha D. Jackson saw the foregoing deed
signed, sealed and delivered for the purposes and uses there
in set forth

   This Indenture made and entered into


   This agreement made this first day of February A.D.
1870 between Doan & Nickerson of Alachua County State
of Florida Party of the first part and Phillis Sanders &
Jerry Stewart of said County and and State party of the
first part for the purpose of cultivating about sixty acres of
land in said County and State Witnesseth - That the said
Doan & Nickerson the first party agree to furnish Doane &
Nickerson the first freedmen the forementioned land and
seed to plant the same also animals and tools sufficient
to work said land - The party of the second part agrees to
furnish sufficient help & cultivate said land in a work
man like manner to repair the fences, to clear the
land of logs bushes and palmetoes, and clear out the
fences corners, to plant about one half the land in
cotton (no melons) the balance in corn, said corn shall
be hoed twice at least during the season, and at harvest
time agrees to put one half the same in Doon & Nickersons
Corn house, and Stack or house the fodder, and pick the
cotton and deliver it to Doon & Nickerson as often as they
think necessary after it is picked, to be divided when
ginned, to take care of all tools delivered to them to be
kind and gentle to the animals in their charge, and
use them expressly for the Cultivation of the crops on said
land, and in lieu of cultivating fodder for the animals
will relinquish all claim to any par of the cotton seed.
Also further agree not to sell any agricultural produce
to any person whatever until the crops are divided, as pay
ment for the faithful performance of this contract the said
