           and Nickerson agree to give the said Sanders and Stewart one
           half part of all the crops raised on said land, the corn and
           fodder to be divided when gathered, and the cotton when ginned
           and it is further agreed that the said Doan and Nickerson
20 cts     shall have the first Lien on said Sanders & Stewarts part
US I.R.S.  of the crops to reimburse them for any advances made them
Cancelled  during the season. Any violation of this Contract shall sub
           ject the violator to a forfeiture of their interest in the crops

           that they signed the foregoing instrument that it was read and
           explained to them and that they fully understand its provisions

           This agreement made this first day of February AD
           1870 between Doane and Nickerson of Alachua County - State of
           Florida Party of the first part and Washington Smith of said County
           and State party of the second part for the Cultivation of about
           twenty five acres of land in said County and State
           Witnesseth that the said Doan & Nickerson the first party
           to furnish the forementioned land and seed to plant the
           same also animals and tools sufficient to work said
           land. The party of the second part agrees to furnish suf-
           ficient help and cultivate said land in a workman
           like manner to repair the fences, to clear the land of logs
           bushes and palmetoes, and to clear out the fence corners
           to plant about one half in cotton the balance in corn said
           corn shall be hoed at least twice during the season, and
           at harvest time agrees to put one half the same in Doan
           and Nickerson Corn House, and stack or house the fodder,
           and pick the cotton and deliver to Doan and Nickerson
           as often as think it necessary after it is picked to be divided
           when gined, to take good care of all tools delivered to him,
           to be kind and gentle to the animals in his charge and use
           it expressly for the Cultivation of the crops on said land, and
           in lieu of Cultivating fodder for said the animals will re-
           linquish all claim to any part of the cotton seed. Also
           further agrees not to sell any agricultural product to any
