Sheriffs Deed
State of Florida }
County of Alachua } This Indenture made this Fifth day
of December AD 1870 Between George L. Barnes, Sheriff
of said County of the first part and Eliza Denton of
the County of Alachua and State of Florida of the second
part Witnesseth that whereas by virtue of a writ of
Fieri Facias issued out of the Circuit Court for said County
and to him the said Sheriff directed he was com-
manded that of the goods and chattles lands and
tenements of the Estate of J.B. Denton, he cause to be made
the sum of one hundred and thirty six Dollars
with interest thereon, togather with costs of suit which
G.W. Washington lately on the 13th day of October 1866
recovered in our Circuit Court against Gibbert S. Denton
admr and J.H. Roper endorser and whereas I George
L. Barnes as Sheriff as aforesaid by virtue of said Writ,
did on the 1st day November AD 1870, levy upon and
Seize the property hereinafter described, and did by
virtue of said writs and persuant to the statutes in such
case made and provided, duly advertise the said property
for sale on the 5th day of December AD 1870 and did on
that day sell the same at publick auction according
to law, to Eliza Denton for the sum of Two hundred and
thirteen Dollars being the highest sum bid for the same
Now Therefore Know Ye, that I, the said George L. Barnes as
Sheriff as aforesaid by virtue of said Writs and of the statutes
in such cases made and provided for and in consideration
of said sum of Two Hundred and thirteen Dollars to me in hand
paid by the said Eliza Denton party of the second part,
Have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do, grant,
bargain and sell unto the said Eliza Denton party of the
second part his heirs and assigns forever all the following
property to wit Section nine (9) and Ten (10) Township Ten (10)
Section Thirty Three (33) Township Nine (9) Range nineteen (19) S & E
The North West quarter and West half of North half (1/2) of North East
quarter (1/4) Sec 13, East 1/2 of NE1/4 Section 14, Township nine
(9) Range 18 containing 2240 acres more or less, togather with
all the rights titles interests and Equities which the said Estate of
J.B. Denton had of, in, or to the same, To Have and to Hold as
full as I the said George L. Barnes as Sheriff as aforesaid might
could or ought to sell and convey the same, Given under my hand
and seal this the fifth day of December AD 1870,
