To all whom these presents shall come I, George E. Wentworth United
States Marshal for The Northern District of Florida send greeting - Whereas
by a writ of Fieri facias issued out of the Circuit Court of The United
States for the fifth Judicial Circuit Northern District of Florida on the
sixteenth day of July in the year Eighteen hundred and sixty nine and
to me delivered I was commanded to make of the goods and chattels lands
and tenements of Samuel J. Kennard living in Alachua County The
sum of One Thousand two hundred and fifty one dollars which James
J. Kirkpatrick a citizen of the State of South Carolina the fifth day of
July AD 1869 recovered in The Circuit Court of the United States for The
fifth Judicial Circuit Northern District of Florida for damages
which he had sustained by reason of the nonperformance of certain
promises and assumptions by the said Samuel J. Kennard and also
the costs which were in that behalf adjudged to the said James D. Kirk-
patrick - And whereas after the coming of the said writ to me be-
fore the return thereof I did by virtue thereof seize and take the lands
hereinafter particularly described and sold the same on the 2d day of 
January AD 1871 at public auction after due advertisement accor-
ding to law to Edwin W. L'Engle of Savannah Chatham County and
State of Georgia for the sum of Fifty dollars the same being the high-
est sum bidden Therefore and he being the highest bidder -
 Now Therefore know ye that I George E. Wentworth The Marshal
aforesaid by virtue of the said writ of Fieri Facias and of the statute
in such case made and provided in consideration of the sum
of Fifty dollars to me in hand paid by the said Edwin W. L'Engle
The receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained
and sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto
the said Edwin W. L'Engle his heirs and assigns forever the following
described parcel of land to wit: The North West quarter of the South west
quarter of section Thirteen in Township Eight South and Range Twenty
one East containing forty (40) acres more or less situated and being
in the County of Alachua and State of Florida and also all the appur
tenances and all the Estate right title and interest which the said
Samuel J. Kennard had in said lot or parcel of land on the 5th day
of July AD 1869 or any time hereafter - To have and to hold the said
lands and premises unto the said Edwin W. L'Engle his heirs and assigns
forever as fully as I the said George E. Wentworth as Marshal as
aforesaid and under the authority aforesaid may can or ought
to sell and convey the same and I do covenant with the said
Edwin W. L'Engle his heirs and assigns that I in making said
sale to him I have in all things complied with the requirements
of the law - In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and seal this the 7th day of January AD 1871.
