County of Alachua } This agreement made and Entered into this
first day of January 1871 between John W. Raymond party of the first
part and Prince Brockington party of the second part Witnesseth
That the said John W. Raymond agrees to furnish to the said
Prince Brockington for Cultivation during the present year
thirty acres of land more or less Also one animal and suffi-
cient tools to work the land and seed to plant the same That
the Said Prince Brockington agrees to Cultivate the said
land in Corn Cotton &c as the said John W. Raymond
shall direct that the said Prince agrees to plant Cultivate
and gather the Crops faithfully and will and if it is not
worked to the Satisfaction of the said John W. Raymond
then the said John W. Raymond shall be at liberty to em-
ploy help to work the Crops at the Expense of the said Prince
Brockington that the said Prince is to repair the fences and
keep them in repair during the season or have them repaired
at his expense That the said prince is to take good Care of
the Animals and tools entrusted to his Care and feed water
and Curry the Animal each day regularly and return the
tools when Called upon to do so and if any are missing pay
for the same - It is also agreed that the said John W. Raymond
is to have full Control of the management of the crops from the
time of planting until all gathered - It is also agreed that if
the said Prince Brockington shall be detected in appropriating
any part of the crop or knowingly allowing any persons or
persons to appropriate any part of them to his own use or
the use of any other person or persons whatsoever or fail
to Comply with the provisions of this Contract then the Said
Prince Brockington shall forfeit to the said John W.
Raymond the full amount of his labour and his entire
interest in the Crops - That if the said Prince should
fail or omit to take Care of the Animal each or any day
of the week Sundays not excepted then the said John W.
Raymond may Employ someone to care for the animal
at the expense of the said Prince Brockington -For the
faithful performance of his part of this Contract the
said Prince Brockington Shall receive from the said
John W. Raymond when the Crops are all gathered one
half of the Corn and fodder and one half of the Cotton
lint, the said Prince to pay for ginning his own Share
of the Cotton - It is also agreed that the said John |
