Alachua County } This agreement made this January 1st
A.D. 1871, between D.W. Ridgell of the State of Florida & County of
Alachua of the first part and Essex Surry of the Same State &
County of the Second part - Witnesseth: that the Said D.W.
Ridgell agrees to furnish the Said Essex Surry thirty five
Acres of land to Cultivate on what was formerly known
as the Cunningham Place in Alachua County State of
Florida a horse or mule & feed for the Same the necessary
farming implements And the Seed to plant the Said land and to
give the Said Essex Surry One half of all that is raised
on the Said land - The Said Essex Surry in Consideration
of the above agreement agrees and promises to prepare for and
plant and work & gather the Crop raised on Said
--------------- land under the Control and direction of the Said D.W. Ridgell
5¢ US Rev Stamp And to Clear around and keep the fence up around the Said
Cancelled land and to have three hands at work every day and they do
--------------- full hands tasks and give the said D.W. Ridgell One half of
all that is made on the Said land - The Said Essex Surry
furthermore binds himself And agrees to harvest and deliver
to the said D.W. Ridgell or assigns Everything that is made
on said land including Corn fodder Cotton and Everything
Else made or Enough thereof to fully Satisfy and Sufficiently
pay him for all the Advances of Whatever Kind he the
Said D.W. Ridgell may make me and that I will not
remove from the premises one pound of Cotton nor one
Ear of Corn until he is paid - In testimony Whereof we
have hereunto set our hands and Seals this the 11th day
of March A.D. 1871.

5¢ US Rev Stamp of the Second part Witnesseth That the Said D.W. Ridgell
Cancelled hath let and by these presents doth grant and to farm let the
--------------- said Henry Jackson have (40) Forty acres of land on what was
formerly known as the Cunningham Place in Alchua County
State of Florida from the 1st of February A.D. 1871 to the
1st of January A.D. 1872 for the sum of Ninety dollars to
be paid by the first of November A.D. 1871. The Said
Henry Jackson doth Covenant to pay to the Said D.W. Ridgell
