Sheriff's Deed 3d April
State of Florida } This Indenture made this second day of March
County of Alachua} A.D. 1871 between George L. Barnes Sheriff of said
County of the first part and George F.K. Beattie of the County of Alachua
State of Florida of the second part, witnesseth That whereas by virtue of a writ
of Fieri Facias issued out of the Circuit Court for the said County, and to
him, the Said Sheriff directed, he was commanded, That of the goods and chattles,
lands and tenements of James Beattie administrator of the Estate of Wm Carrol
he cause to be made the Sum of Six Hundred and sixteen 29/100 Dollars
with interest thereon, together with costs of Suit which Wm T. Richardson
administrator of the Estate of J.M. Richardson deceased lately on the 23rd
day of February A.D. 1871 recovered in our Circuit Court against James
Beattie administrator and whereas I, George L. Barnes as Sheriff as
aforesaid by virtue of said writ, did on the 23rd day of February A.D. 1871,
levy upon and seize the property hereinafter described, and did by virtue
of said writs, and pursuant to the Statutes in such cases made and
provided, duly advertise the said property for Sale on the 3d day of
April A.D. 1871 and did on that day Sell the Same at public auction
according to law, to George F.K. Beattie for the Sum of Four Hundred
twenty five dollars being the highest Sum for the Same.
Now therefore, Know ye, that I, the Said George L. Barnes, as Sheriff
as aforesaid, by virtue of the Said wrists, and of the Statutes in such cases made
and provided for, and in consideration of the said Sum of Four Hundred and
twenty five dollars to me in hand paid by the Said George F.K. Beattie
party of the second part, have granted, bargained and Sold, and by these
presents do grant bargain and Sell unto the said George F.K. Beattie party
of the Second part his heirs and assigns forever, all the following property to wit;
Block one (1) Range five (5) with all the improvements thereon Situated in the
town of Gainesville, and known as the Carroll property, together with
all the rights, titles, interests and equities which the said Wm Carrol deceased
had of, in, or to the Same. To have to hold as fully as I, the said George
L. Barnes as Sheriff as aforesaid might, could or ought to Sell and
Convey the Same.
