County of Alachua } This Indenture made this 
State of Florida  } the seventh day of December
                    AD 1868 by George L. Barnes 
Sheriff of said County of the first part and J.H.
Roper of the County and State aforesaid of the 
second part; Whereas by virtue of a writ of fiera=
facias issued issued out of the Circuit Court 
of Alachua County and to him the said Sheriff de=
livered he was commanded that of the goods 
and Chattles lands and tenements of R.M. and R.W.
Roberds he caused to be made the sum of Eight
Thousand two hundred and Eighty five and 88/100
Dollars Which J.H. Roper lately on the 14th of 
May 1868 recovered in our Circuit Court
against Said R.M. and R.W. Roberds And whereas
the said Sheriff by virtue of said writ did on 
the first day of November AD 1868 levy upon and 
Seize the property hereinafter described and whereas
the said George L. Barnes as Sheriff as aforesaid
did by virtue of said writs and pursuant to the 
statute in such cases made and provided, duly 
advertise the said property for sale on Monday the
7th day of December AD 1868 and being the day of the
date of these presents, and did on this day sell 
the same at public Auction According to law 
to the said J.H. Roper of the County and State
aforesaid for the sum of Two hundred and seventy
five dollars being the highest bidder for the same 
Now therefor Know Ye that I the said George L. Barnes 
as said Sheriff by virtue of the said writ in such cases 
made and provided and in Consideration of the said 
Sum of Two hundred and seventy five dollars to me 
paid by the party of the second part have granted sold
and by these presents do grant bargain and sell
unto the said party of the second part his heirs 
and assigns forever all the following property to wit: 
Lot no one (1) in Range (3) three Block four (4) sixty feet
front and two hundred feet back situated on the East
side of the Court House Square in the Town of Gainesville
together with all the rights titles and interests of
which the said R.M. and R.W. Roberds had in the said
property Jointly and severally: And And the Same
to hold as fully as I the said Sheriff as aforesaid 
under said writ might could or ought to sell and 
convey the same
           Given under my hand and seal this the the 7th
