State of Florida  } This Indenture made this
County of Alachua } eighth day of August 1871
between May Jane and John E. Hicks her husband
parties of the first part and Isabella Calvit party
of the second part Witnesseth That the parties of
the first part for and in Consideration of the sum
of one hundred and fifty dollars the receipt of
which is hereby acknowledged have sold granted and
Conveyed to the party of the second part all that
Certain piece or parcel of land in the Town of
Gainesville (and Known as a part of the Ingram
reserve in said town) containing one acre more or
less Also Known on the Maps of said Town made
by P. Henry Young as extending south of the Florida
Rail Road and bounded North by said Rail
Road, East by sweet warter Branch South by land
of Harvard & Colclough and west by the Micanopy
Road as existed in Eighteen hundred and sixty
eight (1868) to have and to hold the same with its app=
urtenances unto the said party of the second part
her heirs and assigns forever and the parties of the
first part will and their heirs and representatives
shall the said granted premises to Said Isabella
Calvit her heirs and assigns forever warrant
and defend against all adverse claims whatever
In witness whereof the said parties of the first
part have hereunto affixed their names and seals

State of Florida  } On this 11th day of August 1871
County of Alachua } personally appeared before me
a Magistrate in and for the County and State afore-
said Mary Jane wife of John E. Hicks separate and
apart from her husband and she personally ack=
nowledged to me that she signed sealed and
delivered the foregoing deed to operate as her relin=
quishment of Dower in and to the premises in
said deed mentioned & that this her relinquishment of
dower is made freely and voluntarily and without any
compulsion on the part of her said husband
In witness whereof the said Mary Jane Hicks has hereunto
subscribed and affixed her seal
