County of Alachua } This Indenture made this the Seventeenth day
of June AD 1869 between George L. Barnes Sheriff
of Said County of the first part and James M. Girvin of the
City of Baltimore in the State of Maryland of the Second
part Witnesseth That whereas by virtue of a decree of Foreclosure
in Chancery issued out of the Circuit Court of Alachua County
State of Florida wherein James M. Girvin was complainant
and Isaac B. Nichols Defendant and to the Said Sheriff
Delivered and directed he was commanded that of the goods
chattels, lands and tenements of the Said Isaac B. Nichols
he cause to be mad the Sum of Five thousand four hundred and
Sixty eight 89/100 dollars which the James M. Girvin lately recor=
ded against the Said Isaac B. Nichols and whereas the Said
Sheriff by virtue of Said writ did on the twentyeth day of
January AD 1869 Levy upon and Seize the Property herein=
after described and whereas the Said George L. Barnes as Sheriff
as foresaid did by virtue of Said writs and Pursuant to
the Statute in Such cases made and provided duly adver=
tised the Said Property for Sale on the first Monday in
June being the Seventh day thereof AD 1869 and also being
the day of the date of these presents and did on this day Sell
the Same at Public auction According to law to the
Said James M. Girvin of Said City of Baltimore and
Dollars
State of Maryland for the Sum of Five hundred^being
the highest Sum bidden for the Same. Now therefore know
all men by these presents that I the Said George L. Barnes
as Sheriff as foresaid, by virtue of the Said writ or decree
of foreclosure and for and in consideration of the Said
Sum of Five hundred dollars to me paid by the party
of the Second have granted, bargained, Sold, and convey
and by these Presents doth grant bargain Sell and Convey
unto the Said party of the Second part his heirs and assigns
forever all the following property to wit: A tract
piece or parcel of land lying being and Situated in
the County of Alachua and State of Florida known
distinguished and designated on the map of Survey
and Subdivision of the Grant known as the "Arredon=
do Grant" of which this is a part mad by David
A. Burr and Henry Washington on the 9th day of
February AD 1846 containing Six hundred and
forty acres Saving and accepting twenty eight acres
heretofore Sold and conveyed to Andrew Robb, to
wit: Section (31) thirty one Township (9) Nine Range (20)
twenty together with all the rights titles and
interest of which the Said Isaac B. Nichols had
in the Said Property to have and to hold the Same
the Said James M. Girvin his heirs executors adminis=
trators and assigns forever as fully as I the Said |
