            Sheriff's Deed
State of Florida}
Alachua County  } This Indenture made this 21st day
of April A.D. 1874 between L.A. Barnes Sheriff of
the county of Alachua in the State of Florida of the
first part and John W. Phifer of said State and
County of the second part Witnesseth that whereas
by virtue of a writ of fieri facias issued of the
circuit court for Alachua County and to the Sher-
iff of the said County directed he was commanded
that of the goods & chattels, land and tenements
of W.B. Lewis he cause to be made the sum of
seven thousand five and thirty and 54/100 Dollars
with interest thereon together with costs of suit which
J.W. Ashford Executor of O.J. Vaughn deceased
lately on the 6th day of April A.D. 1874 recorded in our
Circuit Court against the said W.B. Lewis and
whereas George L. Barnes, as former Sheriff of Alach-
ua County by virtue of said writ did on the 25th
day of October AD 1870 levied upon and seized the
property herein after described and did by virtue
of said writ and pursuant to the Statutes in such
cases made and provided duly advertis the
said property for sale on the 5th day of December
AD 1870 and did on that day sell the same at public
outcry according to law to John W. Phifer for the
sum of Two hundred Dollars that being the highest
sum bid for the same and Whereas the said George
L. Barnes after said advertisement, levy and sale
as such Sheriff according to law did go out of Office
as such Sheriff without making and executing the
proper deeds to said property so sold_ Now therefore
know ye that I, L.A. Barnes successor to the said
George L. Barnes in Office as sheriff of said County
of Alachua, by virtue of the said writ advertisement
levy and sale all of which appears to me by the record
in my office and by virtue of authority in me vested by
the Statutes and law in such cases made and pro-
vided  and for and in consideration of the said sum
of Two hundred Dollars to me as such Sheriff in hand
paid by the said John W. Phifer party of the second
part have granted bargained sold and conveyed and by
these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto
