Alachua County  } Before the subscriber personally
came C.A. Simmons and his wife M.M. Simmons
well known to be the same parties who signed the fore-
going Deed of conveyance who being examined by me
acknowledged theat they did the same for the purposes
therein set forth and Mrs M.M. Simmons said she
did the same freely, voluntarily and of her own accord
without fear or dread of or from her husband. In witness
whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this fifth day of June AD 1874

This Indenture made and entered into on this the
sixth day of July AD 1874 by and between William T.
Cheeves of the County of Alachua and State of 
Florida of the first part and Catherine Gay party
of the second part. Witnesseth that the said party of
the first part for and in consideration of the sum of
$100000 One Thousand Dollars  to him in hand
paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these
presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged Hath
granted bargained and confirmed unto the said party
of the second part her heirs and assigns forever all that
certain lot or parcel of land lying and being situated in
the County of Alachua and State of Florida and known
and described as follows, Section twenty three Township nine
Rnage twenty one, containing (640) Six Hundred and forty
acres more or less. Together with all and singular the tenaments
and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise apper
taining. To have and to hold the above described lands
unto the said party of the second part her heirs and assigns
forever. In witness whereof the said party of the first part
has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above
written.
