                   This Indenture made this the 31st
day of August in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred
and seventy-two; between Cosmos O. Baily Administrator
of the estate of James B. Baily Dec'd of the first part and
Thomas C. Ellis of the second part:
                                    Whereas I, Cosmos O. Bailey
Party of the first part, dec'd on the 20 day of December 1871
Petition the Hon Wm Edwards then Judge of the County
Court of Alachua County for leave to sell a certain quan-
tity of Land belonging to the said estate of James B. Bailey
for the purpose of paying certain debts and the taxes of said
Estate and on the first day of January said order was
made by the said William Edwards as will show on
the records in Clerks office.
                             Now I, Cosmos O. Bailey as admin-
istrator and by virtue of said order for and in considera-
tion of the sum of eleven hundred dollars, Lawful money
of the United States, duly paid before delivery hereof, hath
bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant and
convey to the said party of the second part his heirs and
assigns forever, all that certain piece or parcel of land de-
scribed as follows, To wit:-
                            Commencing at the half-mile
stake at the north west corner of the south west quarter
of Section five, running south to the Florida Rail Road
thence commencing at the same stake and running due
east thirty three chains to North east corner of a certain
piece or lot of land sold by the said party of the first part to
Thomas Blake, then running from the same corner
due south to the Florida Rail Road all the land lying
and being North of the Florida Rail Road that is embraced
in said boundary of the North west of the South-west
quarter of Section five ~5~ and all north of said Rail
Road of the North west quarter of the North west quarter
of Section eight all in township ten ~10~ Range ~20~ twenty
excepting what has been sold to John Mingert and
John O'Mally and Thomas Blake Containing about
twenty three acres ~23~ the quantity of land sold to the
said party of the second part contains one hundred &
sixty acres more or less together with all the right title 
and interest of Land, timber and water. And I, the
