This Indenture made this 9th day of November A.D. 1873
between Sherman Conant Marshall of the United States for the
Northern Dist. of Florida of the first part and Thos J. May of
the County of Alachua and State of Florida of the second
part. Witnesseth
Whereas by virtue of a certain Execution issued
out of the Circuit Court of the United States for the fifth
Judicial Circuit and Northern Dist of Florida in a
certain cause therein pending in which Valentine
Hildreth and Orlando V. Talbot - citizens of South Car
olina partners in business under the name, style
and firm of Hildreth and Talbot were plaintiff and
John T. Mathews of the said Northern Dist. of Florida was de-
fendant and which Execution was issued out of the
the said court on the 20th day of June A.D. 1873 and tested
in the name of the Honorable Salmon P. Chase chief
Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States and the
seal of the said United States Circuit Court directed
and delivered to the said Marshall commanding
him that of the goods and chattels and equities of redemp
tion of the said Defendant she should cause to be made cer
tain monies in the said writ specified and also of the lands
and tenements which said Defendant had on the day in the
said writ mentioned or at any time afterwards in whose
hands soever the same might be, the said Marshall by his deputy
Johnathan W. Childs did levy on section 27 and 28 and 84
in township 9 South Range 20 East containing one
Thousand seven hundred and eighty acres more or less &
all being and situate within the said Northern District
of Florida which above described levy was made on the
1st day of July A.D. 1873 - and after due and legal adver
tisment of the above described property in the Independent
