                     In the Circuit Court
                                  Alachua County Fla
To Hon J.H. Goss Judge of the 5 Judicial Cir of Fla
The humble Petition of Thomas C. Ellis & Hardy Harvard, would
respectfully show unto your honor that Stephen F. Harvard late of Alachua
County departed this life on or about the day of Nov A.D. 1871 leaving a
considerable real and personal estate, That the real Estate of said Stephen
F. Harvard is yet unsold & situate in Gainesville Alachua County Fla and
near said town, That your petitioners were duly qualified as his ad-
ministrators,
Your Petitioners would further state that he left only one child
and no wife surviving him to wit Olive C. Harvard and that David
Harvard has been duly appointed her Guardian by the Probate Court
of Alachua County, and that the administrators and said Guar-
dian have yet had no final settlement.
Your Petitioners would show that the intestate Stephen F. Harvard
left at his death with his other real & personal property a certain
vacant lot in the town of Gainesville to wit: Lot No1 Block
No3 & Range One (1) measuring 197 feet front from N to S & 120
feet from E to W.
Your Petitioners would respectfully show that the Lot has
much depreciated in value from delapidations & depreciation
of property that no rents are secured therefrom that situated
as it is in Town that the Taxes are high and no prospect at
present that there will be any demand for the same.
Your Petitioners would show that they have been applied to upon the
part of the Religious Denomination calling themselves Baptist to pur-
chase the same with a view to erect a "Baptist Church"
Your Petitioners would show that it is located in a suitable part
of the town for that purpose and that they would here show to
the Court that a Church Built thereon would most likely
enhance the value of all the other real estate belonging to said
estate and minor heir,
Your Petitioners would further show that the lot or piece of
      as aforesaid
ground^is vacant, wholy unoccupied, is going to waste with high
taxation to pay upon it without any probability of immediate
sale,
Your Petitioners would therefore recommend that the same be sold
under and by virtue of a Decree of this Honorable Court for a sum
not less than one hundred dollars to the officials, of the Bap-
tist denomination for the exclusive use of building a church
for said persuasion and that the money be paid over to David
Harvard Guardian of said Minor. Thos C. Ellis administrator
8 Oct 1873, Hardy Harvard A.S.

to said lot of Land to be sold for the uses & purposes & price as
