Sheriffs Deed
State of Florida }
County of Alachua } This Indenture made this 18th day of
August AD 1870 between George L Barnes Sheriff of said County
of the first part and Thomas Dodd of the County of Scott State
of Virginia of the Second part. Witnesseth, That whereas by
virtue of a writ of Fieri Facias issued out of the Circuit Court
for said County and to him the said Sheriff directed, he was
commanded that of the goods and chattels, lands and tenements
of the estate of Samuel R Pyles deceased he cause to be
made the sum of Three Hundred and Sixty Six 48/100 Dollars
with interest thereon together with costs of suit which J P San-
derson lately on the 13th day of May AD. 1868, recorded in
our Circuit Court against Jacob E Dodd and Ann L Dodd
as Executrix of the will of Samuel R Pyles deceased and
Whereas I George L Barnes as Sheriff as aforesaid by virtue
of said Writ did on the 29th of January AD 1870 lay upon
and seize the property hereinafter described, an did by
virtue of said writs and pursuant to the Statutes in such
cases made and provided duly advertised the said property for
sale on the 7th day of March AD, 1870, and did on that
day sell the same at public auction according to law
to Thomas Dodd by J E Dodd his agent for the Sum
of Four hundred thirty two 44/100 Dollars being the highest
Sum bid for the same.
Now therefore: Know ye that I the said George L Barnes
as Sheriff as aforesaid by virtue of the said writs and of the
Statutes in such cases made and provided for and in con-
sideration of said sum of Four hundred thirty two 44/100
Dollars to me in hand paid by the said J E Dodd agent
for Thomas Dodd party of the second part, have granted,
bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant bargain
and sell unto the said Thomas Dodd, party of the second part
his heirs and assigns forever all the following property to wit:
Section ten (10) and the West half of the South West Quarter
of Section Eleven (11) in Township Seven (7) Range Eighteen (18)
South and East, Containing Seven hundred and twenty acres
more or less, together with all the rights, titles and interest and
Equities which the said Jacob E and Ann L Dodd as Exec-
or to the Same. To have and to hold as fully as I the said
Geo L Barnes as Sheriff as aforesaid might could or
ought to Sell and convey the Same.
