known appeared before me and upon a private examination by me taken
separately and apart from her husband Saml L. Smith did acknowledge to me that
she executed the said foregoing deed to John J. Barr freely & without any
compulsion or fear of her said husband

              John J. Barr & Wife To George A. Mariner
                              "Deed"
State of Florida } This Indenture made and entered into this July 21st AD 1881
Alachua County   } between John J. Barr & Wife Susan D. Barr who Joins in this
indenture for the purpose of relinquishing & renouncing all her right of Dower in
and to the premises hereinafter mention of the first part said parties
being being of the State & County above mentioned And George A. Mariner of
Chicago Illinois of the second part - Witnesseth That the parties of the first
part for and in consideration of the sum of Fifteen hundred and Eighty
(158000) Dollars to them in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby
acknowledged have granted bargained & sold and do hereby grant bargain
and sell unto the party of the second part all that tract or parcel of land
Lying & being in the State & County aforesaid in what is known as the
the Arredondo Grant & more fully described as the South West Quarter of
Section Thirty Three (33) Township Eleven (11) Range Twenty (20) East Less Twenty
(20) acres taken from said Land as follows - Starting at South West corner of 
said Section running East Nine & half chains. Thence North to half Section line
Thence West to section line leaving in said lot or parcel of land One
hundred & forty acres more or less - With the appurtenances and all the
right title and interest of the parties of the first part therein and the parties
of the first part doth hereby covenant and agree with the said party
of the second part that they are the Lawful owners of the premises above
granted and do warrant & will defend the titles to the same to the
party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever In witness
whereof the parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and
