his wife to me known to be the persons described
in and who executed the foregoing instrument and
severally acknowledged the execution thereof to be their
free act and deed for the uses and purposes therein
mentioned and the said L.E. Carter the wife of the
said J.W. Carter on an examination taken and made
separately and apart from her said husband did
acknowledge that she made herself a party to the said
deed for the purpose of renouncing and relinquishing
her dower or right of dower and all other right
and title whatever in and to the lands tenements and
hereditaments therein described and thereby granted
and released and that this deed and relinquishment
or renunciation of dower is made by her freely and
voluntarily and without any constraint apprehension com
pulsion or fear of or from her said husband.

                "Deed"
This Indenture made the 26th day of May 1883
between Horace Merry party of the first part and
the Florida Southern Railway Company of the other
part the party of the first part in consideration
of One Dollar paid by the party of the second part
has bargained sold granted and conveyed and
does hereby bargain sell grant and convey unto
the party of the second part its successors and ass
igns the following described parcel or parcels
of land situate in the county of Alachua and State
of Florida to wit: a right of way through his Land
for a Rail Road in Sec 30 Township 11 Range
