   Benjamin Hopkins to M.S. Perry
                 "Deed"
State of Florida } This Indenture made this the 28th day of July in
Putnam County    } in the year of our Lord 1853 Between Benjamin
Hopkins of the County and State aforesaid of the first part and M.
S. Perry of Alachua County State of Florida of the second Part Witnesseth
for that whereas in consideration of the relinquishment of said Perry unto
the said Benjamin Hopkins of his entire interest in the in the
following Negroes formerly the property of Thomas Cherry Decd of the
County of Alachua State of Florida, to wit: Jack, August, January
Molly, Viny & her child, Lucinda and her child Louisa Susan & Nancy
and for the further consideration of four Hundred (400) Dollars to be
paid in good and lawful money by said Perry to said Hopkins on the
first day of January (1855) in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and fifty five. The aforesaid Benjamin Hopkins has remised
released and conveyed & quit claimed to the said party of the second part
and to his Heirs and assigns forever all that certain tract or
parcel of land lying and being Situated in Alachua County known
as the Clerry tract & lot No (5) containing Sixteen hundred and Sixty
six & two third (1666 2/3) acres being a part of Moses E. Levy Grant and
Situated within the Arredondo Grant State of Florida & County of
Alachua and adjoining lands now or recently owned by Moses E.
Levy J.M. Croxton John White M.S. Perry and others together with
all and singular the tenements hereditaments & appurtenances
thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining & the remainder or
remainders reversion or reversions rents issues & profits thereof. To have
& to hold all and singular the above premises mentioned & described
unto the said party of the second part his heirs & assigns forever
and to this I also bind my Heirs & assigns forever.  This agreement
made between the parties aforesaid is such that the said party of the
second part will well & truly perform his part according to the
premises hereinbefore Stated, if the said Hopkins of the first part
shall make this his title to the above described Land a good
and Sufficient Title thereto and it defend against all claims
whatsoever. This being a part & parcel of the above quit claim given
by the said Perry of the second part to the said Hopkins of the
First part of certain Negroes hereinafter mentioned otherwise
this said deed of quit claim to be void with all the conditions
herein stated In Witness whereof the said party of the First part
has hereunto set his hand & Seal the day & year above written
