This Indenture made the fifth day of February in 
the year of our Lord one thousand eight and twenty eight 
Between Richard S. Hackley and Harriet his wife of 
the Borough of Norfolk State of Virginia but at 
presant in the City of New York of the first part 
Noah Scovall of the City & State of New York of 
the second part Witnesseth that the said party of the 
first part for and in consideration of the sum of Ten 
thousand dollars lawful money of the United States 
of America to them in hand paid by the said party 
of the second part at or before the ensealing and 
delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged and the said party of the second 
part his heirs executors and administrators for ever 
released and discharged from the same by these presents 
hath granted bargained sold alied remised released con
veyed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant 
bargain sell alien remise release convey and confirm unto the 
said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns 
forever    All that certain tract or parcil of land lying and 
being in the Teritory of Florida heretofore commonly called 
East Florida bounded as follows Towit  Begining on the 
west side of Big Creek a branch of the Amanena River 
(Amanina of Mellesh) where the North boundry of a tract of 
Five Thousand acres laid off for said Hackley own 
settlement intersects the said Big Creek Thence runing South
West (158) one hundred and fifty eight Chains - Thence 
South six hundred and thirty two (632) Chains ninety 
two links  Thence east one hundred & fifty eight Chains 
(158) Thence North six hundred & thirty two (632) Chains nine
ty two (92) links to the begining containing an area of 
Ten Thousand acres subject however hereafter to 
actual survey for the quantity
