This Indenture made the fourteenth day of December 
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred 
and twenty seven Between Richard S. Hackley of
Norfolk Virginia at presant in the City of New York 
and Hariet his wife parties of the first part and 
Noah Scovall of the aforesaid City of New York of 
the second part Witnesseth that the said parties of 
the first part for and in consideration of the sum of 
five Thousand Dollars lawful money of the United 
States of America to them in hand paid by the said 
party of the second part at or before the sealing & 
delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged and the said party of the second part 
his heirs executors and administrators forever released 
and discharged from the same by these presents hath 
granted bargained sold aliened remised released conveyed 
and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain 
sell alien remise release convey and confirm unto the 
said party of the second part and to his heirs and 
assigns forever    All that certain Tract or parcil of land 
situate lying and being in the County of Alachua formerly 
a part of St Johns and begining on the East side of Big 
Creek a branch of the Amanina River (Amamna of 
Melish) where the South boundry of MacKais tract 
intersects the said big Creek -- Thence East three hundred 
and & sixteen (316) Chains Eleven links twenty two links  
Thence South one hundred and fifty eight Chains (158) 
eleven links to Richard S. Hackley tract selected for his own 
settlement and parrallel with the first described line 
three hundred and sixteen (316) Chains and twenty two links 
to big creek Thence Northernwardly along the same 
to the place of begining Containing Five thousand 
acres subject hereafter to actual survey or admeasure
ment for the quantity
