to the true intent and meaning thereof that then and 
in such case it shall and may be lawful to and 
for the said John L Engle his executors, administrators 
and assigns or his or their attorney or agent from 
time to time and at all times hereafter peaceably 
and quietly to enter into any or all the messuages lands 
tenements of me the said Duncan L. Clinch and 
to take the said Negro slaves all or any of them in
to his possession and the same to hold and detain 
to his and their own use and behoof as his and their 
own proper goods and chattles from here forth 
and forever or the same to sell and dispose of 
at will and pleasure returning the overplus if any 
should happen to be after paying the said bonds and 
the conditions thereof mentioned unto me the said 
Duncan L. Clinch my executors administrators 
or assigns -
	In Witness whereof I the said Duncan L. 
Clinch have hereunto set my hand and seal this 
twelfth day of May in the year of Our 
Lord one thousand eight hundred and 
thirty four and of the Sovereignty and Inde
pendence of the United States of America 
the fifty eighth

I Duncan L. Clinch the mortgagee above named being duly 
sworn do hereby acknowledge upon oath the foregoing
