County of Columbia    Know all men by these 
                presents that I L. Gilliland 
of Hillsborough County & Teritory aforesaid 
for and in consideration of the sum of Five 
hundred Dollars to me in hand paid at & 
before the sealing & delivery of these presents the 
recept whereof is hereby acknowledged have 
bargained granted & sold & by these presents 
do grant bargain convey and sell to Jesse 
Standly also of said Teritory & County first 
above named One Negro Woman named 
Permelia aged about Twenty years & her 
child Jim aged about three years which 
aforesaid property I hereby bind myself heirs 
assigns &c to warrant & defend to the afore
said Standly his heirs assigns &c against 
the claim of all others whomsoever
	The condition of the above conveyance 
is such that if the said Gilliland does pay 
or cause to be paid to the aforesaid Standly 
the sum of Five Hundred Dollars on or before 
the first day of June next the above 
Bill of sale is void else to remain in full 
force - In witness whereof I have hereunto 
placed my hand & seal this twenty fifth 
day of August Eighteen hundred & thirty 
four signed sealed and delivered
