many years last past been acquainted with Capt. G.
Priest and from Close intamacy he believes said

in life and that he with a Company of men on the
evening of the 6th day of December 1835 in of hostile
Indians in their County came near the dwelling house of
Captain Gabriel Priest on the Wacahootia hammock
in their County and then and there discovered the
dwelling home and other houses all on fire and
advancing within two hundred paces of said
consuming building, and deponent having veiwed
a number of his Company declared they saw a
number of Indians around the consuming buil
dings and this deponent having viewed this exhibit
as charges of said Priest. Against the United States
for losses sustained by the hostile Indians and
believe the said Charges to be just and
reasonable and ought to be allowed and further
