To all to whom these presents shall come __
Know ye that I Ashley H. Brooks of the County of Alachua
and Territory of Florida being possessed & owner of two certain
negro Girls (to wit) Elsy about Eleven years and Flora
aged about nine years & being anxious that the said
negros shall be managed for my greatest advantage
& to this effect being anxious to have the benefit of the
service & experiences of my father Willy Brooks. Do by these
presents & in consideration of five dollars to me in hand
paid by my said father before the ensealing and delivery of
these said presents hereby bargain sell & deliver to him the
said Willy Brooks the said two negro girls Elsy & Flora
and I the said Ashley H. Brooks for myself my heirs
executors & administrators do hereby forever warrant and
defend the same & my right ** to bargain sell and
deliver the said negros unto the said Willy Brooks &
to his heirs Executors etc, etc, To have and to hold
the said negros together with their increase (if any they shall
have) in trust to use for my sole & only use for the term of
my natural life & after my death in trust to my chil
dren if any I should have, till said children shall come
of age, but if I should die without children these
said negros with their increase be held by my
said father in trust aforesaid for the use & benefit
of my surviving brothers & sisters (should there be any, but
not for the benefit of my other legal heirs And I do
hereby further provide & empower the said Willy Brooks
whenever he shall he shall deem it most beneficial
for my interest and shall be desirous to be dischar
ged from the tract hereby enforced upon he by me
to select some proper person & appoint the
master of said negros to and for my ex
clusive use and benefit to act instead of
said Willy who shall possess the same |
