Know all men by these presents that I
William A.G. Broadaway for and in consid
eration of the sum of Fifteen hundred and
fifty dollars to me in hand paid at and
before the Sealing and delivery of these presents
by Philip Dell the receipt I do hereby acknowledge
have bargained and sold and by these presents
do bargain sell and deliver to the said
Philip Dell a negro fellow named Cuffy also
a negro girl named Matilda, to have and
to hold the said slaves Cuffy and Matilda
unto the said Philip Dell his heirs executors
Administrators and Assigns to his and their
only proper use and behoof forever and I
the said William A.G. Broadaway my
heirs executors Administrators and Assigns the
said bargained premises unto the said Philip
Dell his heirs executors Administrators and
assigns from and against all person shall
and will Warrant and forever defend by
these presents. In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal dated at
Newnansville On the eight day of July
In the year of our Lord One thousand
eight hundred and thirty nine and in
the sixty fourth year of the Independence
of the United States of America
