Alachua County		This Indenture made 
this thirty first day of August in the year of our Lord One 
thousand eight hundred and forty one, Between James 
Martin of the County and Territory aforesaid of the one part 
and Joseph J. Knight of the same place,  Witnesseth That the 
said James Martin hath this day made & delivered to the said 
Joseph J. Knight  his certain promissory Note, Subscribed with his 
own hand and bearing even date with these presents, whereby the 
said James Martin hath promised to pay the said Joseph J. Knight 
or bearer Five hundred Dollars on or before the twenty fifth day of 
October next ensuing the date hereof for value received,   Now the said 
James Martin by these presents has granted, Bargained and Sold 
and doth by these presents grant, bargain and Sell unto the said 
Joseph J. Knight his heirs and Assigns, One large Six Mule Waggon 
and Harnesses Six Mules viz.  Three Sorrels One Bay One Black and One 
Black rone Mules.  To have and to hold the said bargained property 
to the said Joseph J. Knight his heirs and Assigns to his and 
their own proper use benefit and behoof forever _  And the said 
James Martin for himself his heirs, Executors and Administrators 
the said bargained property unto the said Joseph J. Knight will 
Warrant and forever defend against the claim of himself and his 
heirs, and against the claims of all other persons Whatever___ 
 Provided Nevertheless, that if the said James Martin his heirs 
Executors and Administrators, shall and do well and truly pay or 
cause to be paid unto the said Joseph J. Knight his heirs & Assigns 
the afore mentioned Sum of Five hundred Dollars on the day and 
time mentioned and Appointed for the payment thereof on the said 
promissory Note mentioned, with lawful Interest for the same 
According to the tenor of said Note, then and from thenceforth 
as will this present Indenture and theright to the property 
thereby conveyed as the Said promissory Note, shall cease and 
determine and be void to all intents and purposes__
