This Indenture made and entered into this thirty first day 
of August in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred & forty One, 
Between Ashley H. Brooks and Jesse Stanley, both at present residing 
in the County of Alachua and Territory of Florida, Witnesseth 
that for and in consideration of the sum of Seven hundred & fifty Dollars 
by the said Stanley to the said Brooks in hand paid at & before the 
ensealing of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, 
            He the said Ashley H. Brooks, hath bargained sold and 
delivered and doth by these presents, Bargain Sell, alien, remise, 
enfeoff and deliver to the said Jesse Stanley, all that certain 
tract, piece or parcel of Land, lying, situate and being in the 
County of Alachua aforesaid and known in the survey of the 
United States of America made in the said Territory of Florida, as 
the East half of the south West quarter Section number thirteen 
Township number thirteen Range Twenty South and 
east containing One hundred & Seventy four acres and thirty 
eight hundredth of an acre, It being the same tract entered as a 
pre-emption by the said Brooks at the Land Office by his receipt 
as appears dated the first day of April One thousand eight hundred 
and thirty nine -- To have and to hold the above mentioned 
and described Tract of Land, to the said Jesse Stanley his heirs 
and assigns free from the claim of the United States, of the said
