Camden County This Indenture made this
Twenty first day of February , in the year of our Lord One
thousand eight hundred and twenty four, Between George
I.F. Clarke of east Florida of the first part and Duncan
L. Clinch, Colonel of the United States Army, on the other
part, Witnesseth, That the said George I..F. Clarke for and
in consideration of the sum of One thousand three hundred and
twenty six Dollars to him in hand paid, at and before the
Sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is
hereby Acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold and
conveyed, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and
convey unto the said Duncan L. Clinch, Two thousand Acres
of Land being and lying in that part of East Florida called
Alachua and situated at a place called Cedar Swamp Alias
Sugar Town, on a path or road leading from Paynes Town to
Ocklewaha Creek, Which said two thousand Acres of Land
is part of a purchase the said Clarke made from John Brevard
who obtained the same by grant from the late Spanish Government
of said province as will appear by the Plot and Certificate of the
Survey thereof , by the then Surveyor General and hereunto annexed
To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land
unto him the said Clinch his heirs and Assigns, together with all and
Singular the rights, members, and Appurtenances to the same in any
manner belonging, to his and their proper use and behoof forever
in fee simple ___ ___
And the said Clarke for himself his heirs executors
and Administrators, the said bargained premises unto the said
Clinch his heirs and Assigns will Warrant and forever defend the
rights and title thereof against himself and themselves and Against
the claim of any other person or persons whatever ___ __
In Witness Whereof the said Clarke hath hereunto set his
