County of St. Johns		This Indenture made this twenty ninth day 
of April in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred & thirty three 
Between Gad Humphreys of the County of Alachua and Territory aforesaid 
of the one part, and Francis D. Newcomb of the County of Monroe 
Territory aforesaid, of the other part.  Witnesseth, whereas the said 
Gad Humphreys stands justly indebted to the said Francis D. 
Newcomb of the county aforesaid in the full and just sum of 
Two Hundred Eighty Six dollars and forty Nine Cents according to 
the tenor of his certain promissory bearing even date with these 
presents for the sum of Two hundred Eighty Six dollars and forty nine 
cents payable on the first day of January next, that is to say One 
Thousand Eight hundred and thirty four with interest thereon at 
the rate of six percent per annum.  Now therefore Gad Humphreys 
for and in consideration of the premises and for the better securing 
the payment of the said sum of money in said note mentioned 
and of the sum of One dollar to him in hand paid by the said 
Francis D. Newcomb at or before the sealing and delivery of 
these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath 
granted, bargained, sold, aliened, and conveyed, and by these presents doth 
grant, bargain, sell, alien, and, convey and confirm unto the said 
Francis D. Newcomb and to his heirs and assigns forever Two Negro 
Slaves viz Sampson a man aged about twenty five years, and Kety his 
wife aged about TwentyTwo years, together with her future increase 
To have and to hold the said bargained Slaves to the said party of 
the second part his heirs and assigns to the sole and only proper use 
benifit and behoof of the said party of the second part his heirs and 
assigns forever.  Provided nevertheless and these presents are upon this 
express condition, that if the said Gad Humphreys shall and doth 
well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Francis D. Newcomb 
his executors, administrators and assigns the said sum of money in said 
promissory note mentioned, that is to say the said sum of money in the above
said note mentioned with the lawful interest thereon that is to say at 
the rate of six per cent per annum from the date of said note which
