the West by Spells Adfield granted to Archibald Atkinson and on all other sides
by vacant Land containing two Hundred & fifty acres more or less. And also all that
certain other tract of land with the houses and improvements thereon situated in the
said County of Nassau in Spells Swamp and once occupied by John McDonald
being on the west side of the union & Boggy Swamp river Nassau and
bounded as follows the first line runs South seventy one degrees West thirty chains beginning
at a pine and ending at a Water oak second line runs thence South Twenty degrees
East Fifty seven chains and a half to a cypress tree third line runs thence
North Seventeen degrees East Thirty chains to a pine tree the fourth line runs thence
Twenty degrees West forty seven & a half chains to the beginning containing One Hundred
Seventy Two acres of Land And Whereas Messrs. Joseph & Charles Lawton of the
City of Charleston in the State of South Carolina became the purchasers of the said
mortgaged premises above described and in the said decree mentioned they having
bid Six hundred dollars therefore that is to say for the first above described tract
of Land consisting of one Thousand acres the sum of One Hundred & fifty dollars therefore
for next above described tract of Land consisting of One Thousand acres the sum of One
Hundred & thirty dollars for the tract of land thirdly above described consisting of One Thousand acres
the sum of One Hundred and thirty dollars for the tract of land fourthly above described consisting
of five hundred acres the sum of Eighty dollars for the tract of land and improvements thereon
fifthly above described consisting of Two Hundred acres more or less the sum of Sixty
dollars And for the tract of land and improvements thereon last above described consisting
of One hundred & Seventy Two acres the sum of Fifty dollars, these being the highest bids
offered for the same. Now Know Ye that I the said Samuel Blair as Marshall as aforesaid
by virtue and in pursuance of the said decree and in consideration of the
sum of Six hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain & sell unto
the said Joseph and Charles Lawton their heirs and assigns forever All the estate right
title and interest which the said defendants in said decree mentioned or either
of them had in or to the premises aforesaid on the said first day of December Eighteen
hundred& thirty two or at any time since or now have
To Have and to hold the said premises in
said decree mentioned & and hereinbefore particularly described and every part thereof
unto the said Joseph & Charles Lawton their heirs and assigns forever as fully
and absolutely as I the said Samuel Blair as Marshall as aforesaid |
