This is an early photo of the Second Courthouse built in Gainesville.  It was built in 1885 and torn down in 1960.  The present County Administration Building (the third Courthouse in Gainesville) was built on the site of the second courthouse.  Notice the curves in the roof line.   These curves were later replaced by steep angles in an effort to solve a persistent problem with roof leaks.

of the Florida State Archives Photographic Collection.
