State of Florida   }  Solicitor
        vs         }  Murder
James M. Mills     }
                    Continued to next term of the Court and
the defendant Recognized in the Sum of Ten thousand
dollars for his appearance at the next term of the Court James
M. Mills in the Sum of Ten thousand dollars and Twenty
five hundred dollars for each of the Security each James
Mills Edward Sims Senr & James Kincaid in the sum
of Twenty five hundred Dollars each to be levied of their
Respective goods, & chattels, Slaves, lands, tenements of
default be made in the following Condition
that is to say if the said A.A. Maulden Shall
be and appear at the next term of the Court to answer
to an indictment for Murder, and shall not then depart
the Court without leave thereof, then this obligation to be
null & void, otherwise to Remain in full force & virtue

    Alachua County     }
                        At a Circuit Court of Law begun & held
for the County of Alachua at the Court House in the Town in
Gainesville on the Second Monday of October 1861 before the Honl
James M. Baker Judge, William Henry Chappel, a native 
of Great Britian, a free white person, and at the present time
a resident of the County of Alachua & State aforesaid the
said Court being a Court of Record, having common Law
Jurisdiction & a Seal & Clerk, and the said William H.
Chappel being duly sworn declared on oath that it is his
bone fide intention to become a citizen of the Confederate
States of America, and to renounce forever all allegiance
& fidelity to every foreign prince, potentate State & or sovereignty
and particularly all allegiance & fidelity to Victoria Queen
of the United Kingdom of Great Britian & Ireland of
whom he is now a subject - whereupon it is ordered
by that the said declaration of the said William Henry
Chappel be duly Recorded by the Clerk of this Court
