Monday of October A.D. 1861 before the Honorable James
M. Baker Judge &c Peter Dougherty a native of Ireland
a free white person, and at the present time a resident
of Alachua County aforesaid, the Said Court being
a Court of Records having Common law Jurisdiction and
a Seal & Clerk, and the said Peter Dougherty being
duly Sworn declares on oath that it is bona fide
his intention to become a Citizen of the Confederate States of
America & to renounce for ever all allegiance, all princes
Powers potentates & Especially Victoria Queen of the United
Kingdom of Great Briton & Ireland of whom he is now a
Subject, Whereupon it is ordered that the said declara
-tion of the said Peter Dougherty be duly Recorded by the
Clerk of this Court
