The Grand Jury having returned Solicited as their
foreman James M. Sparkman who was appointed as
such by the Court & sworn, the grand Jury were then
Sworn and the Court thereupon delivered its charge 
George Johns was duly Sworn to attend the grand Jury
the present term of the Court, Whereupon the grand Jury
retired attended by their bailiff to their room ----
The Court then proceeded to call the Criminal Docket where
the following Case set over for trial in the next day to wit
State vs J.M. Mills Murder then Called the trial docket
and give Judgement in the following Cases Viz

Martha Chesser   }       Gardner
        vs       }          
Eliza M. Stewart }       Graham
                       And now on this day came the 
parties by their respective attornies, and the defendant 
Saying nothing in bar or preclusion of the plaintiffs right 
to recover, it is ordered that the plaintiff do have his 
Judgement against the defendant by default and that 
the Clerk do assess the damages Whereupon the Clerk 
having assessed the damages at One hundred & forty four Dolls 
&  Sixty Six        Cents it is ordered considered & 
adjudged by the Court that the plaintiff do have &
recover off and from the defendant the said sum of   
One hundred & forty four   Dollars & Sixty Six      Cents 
for his damages together with his Cost in this behalf 
Expended taxed at  Five         dollars & Eighty four      
Cents and the defendant in mercy &c

Rosa M. Heath      }     Maulden             
                     And now on this day Came the 
parties by their respective attornies, and the defendant 
Saying nothing in bar or preclusion of the plaintiffs 
right to recover, it is ordered that the plaintiff do have 
his Judgement against the defendant by default, and 
that the Clerk do assess the damages Whereupon the 
Clerk having assessed the damages at Four hundred
   & forty Eight      Dollars & Ninety nine    Cents 
it is ordered Considered and adjudged by the 
Court that the plaintiff do have his Judgement against
and recover off and from the defendant the said sum 
of   Five             dollars & twenty five    Cents for 
his damages together with his Cost in this behalf Expended 
taxed at                    dolls &           Cents and 
the defendant in Mercy &c
