Met pursuant to adjournment Tuesday Oct 15th 1862

Whereas in the inscrutable wisdom of divine Providence
the Bar of the Suwannee Circuit of Florida has been today

Bar Meeting, At a Meeting of the Bar of the Suwannee
Circuit held at Gainesville on the 14th day of October M.P. Doby
Esqr was called to the Chair, and J.M. Arnow requested to act as Secret
-ary, Messrs Banks, Gardner and Graham were Selected as a
Committee to prepare business for the meeting and, after due consul
=tation, Col. James Banks, the Chairman reported the preamble and
resolutions below, which were unanimously adopted by the
Bar the Grand Jury, and the Citizens generally who desired to
Join in reserving the Memories of Maj. G.W. Call, Col. James P.
Hunt, Capt Cornelius A. Butler and Lieut John A. Emmerson
members of the bar who died in the field of battle, and by
disease contracted in the Service. Eulogistic remarks were
made by his Honor Judge T.T. Long Col. James Banks and M.
P. Doby in behalf of the bar. Major Bailey, Col. Pelot and
Col. Dell represented the people in appropriate remarks
for the Solemn occasion. Archibald Banks Esqr being a
member of the gallant Second Regiment, made a few pathetic
and Stirring remarks founded upon observation
Whereas in the inscrutable wisdom of divine providence the
Bar of the Suwannee Circuit of Florida has been sadly
afflicted in the Melancholly but glorious death of Geo
W. Call and Cornelius A. Butler on the battle field and
John A. Emmerson and James P. Hunt from diseases contracted
on the March and in Camp in the Service of their Country
And whereas they were all ornaments of their of our bar
and each had attained distinction in arms, it is
therefore proper that we, their Surviving brothers, Should
bear testimony to their talents, valor, merit & worth, be it therefore
Resolved 1st that in the death of Major G.W. Call Col.
