The Grand Jurors having retired Solicited
as their Foreman P.B.H. Dudley who was app
-ointed by the Court as Such Foreman and duly
Sworn = The Grand Jurors were then Sworn, and
the Court thereupon delivered its Charge
William H. Colson was then duly Sworn to attend
the Grand Jurors the present term of the Court whereup
-on the Grand Jury retired attended by their baliff
to their room The following Jurors were Excused
for the time & reason hereafter Stated Viz William H.
Colson John W. Hennis John H. Lewis, James M. Chesser
T.O. Turner G.W. Ramsey, The Court then proceeded
to call the Criminal Docket

And now on this day comes J.
B. Dawkins Esqr prosecuting the pleas of the State in
this behalf as well the prisoner Barney Barfield who
having pleaded not guilty to the charge in said in
-dictment contained & whereupon Came a Jury to wit

4 J.G. Rawls 10 John Cameron
5 William May 11 C.A. Ramsey

who having duly Elected tried & Sworn well & truly to
Enquire of the Charges having had the Evidence &
argument of Counsel & Charge of the Court retired to
Consider of their verdict after deliberating for some time
could not agree returned into Court & were dismissed
and the Cause Continued
