On this day came the Solicitor Archibald T. Banks who
prosecutes the pleas of the State in this behalf as well as the prisoner
in person who having entered a plea of not Guilty thereupon came a
Jury to wit
1 Henry Thomas 5 Butler Chisholm 9 Isaac Peach
2 Walter Price 6 Benjamin Welcome 10 London Addison
3 Christopher Cummings 7 George Williams 11 Gilbert Jones
4 William Nelson 8 Arthur Simmons 12 Thomas Scott
who having been duly sworn well and truly to try and the
deliberations made between the State of Florida and the prisoner
at the Bar after hearing the testimony of the witnesses the
argument of Council and the charge of the Court retired in
charge of the Court retired in charge of the Baliff
to consider on their verdict and afterwards to wit on the
same day returned into Court and rendered the
following verdict, We the Jury find the defendant
Guilty, thereupon it is ordered Considered and
and adjudged by the Court that the said James E. Collins
be sentenced to three years imprisonment at hard labour
in the peniteniary for the term of Three years
The Jury was called in open court and each individually
announced guilty as his verdict in the above entitled
cause
